What happens during a regular presentation?
A regular Birthday Wild Encounter is approximately one hour and includes 8–10 animals. Guests learn about their adaptations, behaviour and care, and may hold, touch or closely observe selected animals under your presenter's guidance.
Will Kevin personally lead our Wild Encounter?
Kevin leads most Wild Encounters and personally reviews and schedules every booking. On especially busy dates, another West Coast Exotics presenter may lead your event.
You can indicate in the inquiry form whether you have no presenter preference, would prefer Kevin if available, or would rather consider another date if Kevin is unavailable.
Will every child get to interact?
Every child has an opportunity to participate through holding, touching, observing, listening or asking questions. No child is required to touch an animal.
What kinds of animals attend?
Wild Encounters may include snakes, lizards, turtles, tortoises, tarantulas and other exotic animals. The exact roster may vary based on animal health, welfare and event conditions.
How many participants are included?
The standard Birthday Wild Encounter includes up to 14 total participants, counting children and adults. Large-group pricing applies above 14 total participants.
Does every guest have to touch the animals?
No. Guests can participate by watching, listening and asking questions. Your presenter encourages curiosity without pressuring anyone to touch an animal.
What is the Large Snake Finale?
The Large Snake Finale adds an impressive large snake near the end of the presentation. Guests experience a gentle giant up close and may take part in a memorable group interaction.
Is the feeding demonstration live feeding?
No. The optional Feeding Demonstration uses a frozen-thawed rodent, not live prey.
Are any of the animals rescues?
Yes. Many of the animals involved in West Coast Exotics presentations are rescues or former unwanted pets. Their stories help Kevin teach responsible ownership.
Does West Coast Exotics travel?
Yes. West Coast Exotics is a mobile service in Metro Vancouver and comes directly to homes, schools and event venues. A mileage fee applies to Mission, Maple Ridge, Squamish, Chilliwack, Abbotsford, West Vancouver, Tsawwassen, Langley and Aldergrove, and may apply to other locations outside the standard service area. Kevin confirms the calculated fee in your full quote.
Are there holiday surcharges?
Yes. A $100 surcharge applies to any show taking place on a statutory holiday or long weekend. After-hours charges may also apply.
Does West Coast Exotics carry liability insurance?
Yes. West Coast Exotics carries $2 million in liability insurance coverage. Proof of coverage and vendor documentation can be requested with your inquiry.
Can the presentation happen outdoors?
Outdoor presentations are possible when weather, temperature and venue conditions are suitable for the animals. An appropriate indoor backup space should be available when conditions are uncertain.
What happens if an animal cannot attend?
Animal welfare comes first. West Coast Exotics may substitute another suitable animal if health, weather or environmental conditions make participation inappropriate.
How early should we book?
Popular weekend dates can fill well in advance. Checking your date early provides the best selection of times.
